Our staff members have spent many years devoted to pursuing excellence in their field and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as instructors and trainers.
Through extensive training, certification and dedication, our staff has attained mastery in their fields and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to our members. Here are a few of Bowie Golf Club’s staff members:
John Huber (GENERAL MANAGER / PGA Head Professional)
John has provided us with 38 years of loyal service and has recently assumed the responsibilities of General Manager (2013) and will therefore conduct the daily operations of this facility.
James Carson (Assistant Course Supertendent)
Jimmy has been the assistant to the course superintendent for the past 25 years.
Barry Gilbert (Course Superintendent)
Golf Course Superintendent from 1977 – present. Graduated with a degree in Horticulture from the University of Maryland, College Park. Attends 4-6 agronomic and horticulture seminars annually and is a certified Pesticide Applicator with the State of Maryland since 1990. Holds memberships in: Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Mid-Atlantic Association of Golf Course Superintendents, Maryland Turfgrass Council and Bowie Garden Club. Donald Bedwell ( Pro Shop)

Ross Gelfo (Head Professional Instructor) – Specializing in private lessons, group lessons, on-course lessons, and corporate clinics, for beginners to advanced golfers of all ages. Ross is a dedicated teaching professional with extensive additional training that includes; Certified-Golf Psychology, Golf Fitness, Certified-PGA Coach (ADM), Director-PGA Junior Golf Camps, Certified-U.S. Kids Golf Coach, and Certified-Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA). Lessons focus on the proper set up, mechanics, and club path for the full swing, short game, and psychological aspects of the game. Most importantly, Ross makes the process of learning and improving an enjoyable experience with patience, explanation, demonstration, a keen eye for faults and cures, and utilization of specific drills, training aids, and video analysis.
